Biography of Henry James and 2 questions from the book "Daisy Miller"

Hello, my name is Samuel Llanos and this blog is for my English class at school, so do not expect much more than that

In this blog what we are going to do is talk about the biography of Henry James, writer of the book "Daisy Miller", and we will answer 2 questions of the mentioned book

Biography of Henry James

He was born in 1843 into a family rich in intellectuals. He received his name from his father, Henry James Senior, who was a well-known theologian. While he was a child, James traveled with his family from Europe to America, tutors taught him while they were abroad.

James loved reading and could read fluently in French, Italian and German, in addition to his native language, English. In 1864, he anonymously publicized his first short story, "A Tragedy of Error", and since then he dedicated himself completely to literature. Throughout his career he wrote extensively books and articles of various genres: novels, collection of short stories, written criticism, biography and autobiography. In all that he lived, he wrote 22 novels, including two unfinished by his death, and 112 stories, in addition to several.

James moved to Europe, settling in England permanently in 1876. The outbreak of the First World War was a profound shock to James, and in 1915 he became a British citizen to declare his allegiance to his adopted country, so to protest against the negativity of the united states to enter the war on behalf of Great Britain. James died in London in 1916. Many writers and critics considered him one of the greatest American writers and several of his works have become successful films.

The two questions in the book "Daisy Miller"

1) Before you read the story, take a look at the pictures in the book and on the cover. Write a list oficina ten words or expresions that you think will describe the story you are going to read. If possible, work with a partner and compare your list.

My words are the following, as I can not put the images for not having problems with copyrights, I will only say the words.

Music, walk, crowd, trip, monument, religion, class, meeting, sight, reunion.

2) The tittle of the history Is Daisy Miller. What type of story do you think it will be and do you think it will be about? Discuss the ideas below un groups of tree or four.

A) A love story. A young woman called Daisy will fall in love and get married.

B) A tragedy. Daisy will make a serious mistake and someone will die as a result.

C) A mistery. Daisy will be involved un a serie of mysterious events.

D) A family drama. There will be conflict between members of Daisy's family.

E) A travel story. Daisy will go on along journey, and learn about life in the process.

In my opinion I decide that it is the E. The images inspired me more a story of travel and knowledge, than any other of the above.

I feel all that I had to say, I say goodbye, have good morning, afternoon or evening, until next time.
